Day 1 Beijing (D)

Arrive in Beijing at any time. Spend the day resting or taking in the local surroundings. In the evening, we will have a welcome meeting where you will meet our Tour Leader and fellow travel companions, followed by a scrumptious Beijing Duck dinner.

Day 2 Beijing (B,L)

We will get an early start today and travel two hours outside bustling Beijing to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. Spend time exploring the towers, views and the magnificent structure of the Wall. We will have some time for shopping or resting in the afternoon. In the evening, attend a colorful martial arts performance featuring the monks of Shaolin.

Day 3 Beijing and Overnight Sleeper train (B,L)

Today we will delve into the history of Beijing, visiting the dramatic Forbidden City and the immense Tiananmen Square. Listen to the tales of the emperors and their concubines, a long crafted culture and rich tradition. We will also visit the Temple of Heaven and its surrounding grounds offering a chance to see locals whiling the hours away, practicing water calligraphy and Tai Chi, playing cards and walking pet crickets. Afterward, we will have time to prepare for our overnight sleeper train journey to Xi’an, which we will board in the evening.

Day 4 Xi'an (B,D)

Our train pulls into the station early this morning and we will enjoy a guided tour of the famed Terracotta Warriors built by Emperor Qinshi Huangdi over 2000 years ago. In the afternoon we will visit the Temple of Heaven and Wild Goose Pagoda before you have some free time to explore on our own. Bike around the original city walls, wander through the bustling Muslim Quarter, street side food vendors, shopping lanes and the Great Mosque.

Day 5 Hangzhou (B,D)

Today we will have a comfortable flight to Hangzhou, one of China’s most popular destinations. The Chinese call Hangzhou Heaven on Earth, featuring the beautiful West Lake in the centre of town. Enjoy a leisurely boat ride around the lake, stopping for a visit on an island and taking in the lovely pagodas and temples which dot the banks. In the afternoon, we will tour these pagodas and enjoy some time sipping locally grown green tea while admiring the beauty of Hangzhou. There are some fabulous restaurants in Hangzhou, where we will savor a delightful local dinner.

Day 6 Wuzhen Canal Town/Shanghai (B,L)

Today we will journey to Wuzhen Canal Town, where the canals function for transportation as well as add to the mystical charm of the city. We will float down the canals on small boats, admiring the reflections over the peaceful waters. After a delicious lunch, we will head to the bustling metropolis of Shanghai. Once we will settle into our comfortable hotel, we will take our first walk on the Bund and admire the futuristic skyline!

Day 7 Shanghai (B,D)

Visit the Shanghai Museum to peruse the enormous collection, then take some free time to explore the city. In the evening, a performance by the flexible and precise world famous Shanghai Acrobats is a perfect wrap to the day, followed of course by some Shanghai cuisine.

Day 8 Shanghai (B)

After choosing your desired tour, you will need to select a departure date that works for you. You can view all of our dates and prices on any tour page. You may also want to consider the need for a private room during the tour. Please remember to ask for an air quote. It is important however that you do not purchase tickets that carry cancellations penalties until your trip is guaranteed to run.

Availability Options

  • Available – Trips marked as available means there are at least 4 spots left on your tour.
  • On Request– Less than 4 spaces are left, or we need to contact a local supplier, especially in the case of independent tours.
  • Waitlist – There is currently no space available, but you can ask to be contacted if anything opens up.
