B - Breakfast | L - Lunch | D - Dinner

Day 1 Pretoria

Arrive in South Africa's capital city, where we will transfer to our hotel. Later in the evening we will have a tour briefing to meet our Tour Leader and fellow travelers.

Day 2 Pretoria (B,D)

Enjoy a full day tour today exploring South Africa's cultural heritage and history including Soweto, the Mandela Family museum, and then proceed to Pretoria to visit Freedom Park. Later in the day we will enjoy traditional Afrikaans cuisine when we dine with a local middle-class Afrikaner family.

Day 3 Manyeleti Game Reserve (B,D)

Leaving Pretoria, we will head due East towards Mpumalanga and en route we will take in the sites of the world famous Panorama Route, that includes the Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window and some beautiful waterfalls. Keep on the lookout at the passing telephone poles and dead trees to see raptors, crowned eagles, snake eagles or falcons. Take the opportunity to purchase some souvenirs from the local vendors found along the route. Upon arrival at Shalati Adventure Lodge, we will settle in and enjoy the sites and sounds of the Africa Bushveld and indulge in the local cuisine at the lodge. Sleep tight in the rustic huts and listen to the memorable sounds of the African night.

Day 4 Kruger National Park (B)

We will enjoy an early morning open-vehicle game drive with a local ranger in the Manyeleti Game Reserve, with hopes to catch our first glimpse of one or more of the Big 5. We will head back to the lodge for breakfast and stop at a local village called Shalati to visit a local school where we will interact with the the villagers and children. Next, we will head to Kruger National Park to Nkambeni tented camp, stopping along the way to visit the Stevenson-Hamilton Memorial Museum to learn more about the history of the Kruger National Park. Tonight you will spend the night in one of the camps in Kruger National Park.

Day 5 Kruger National Park (B)

We will awake early to take in the game experience with an optional open vehicle game drive or choose to get closer to the game, sights and smells of the Bushveld with an optional guided nature walk in the Park with a Ranger. During the heat of the day, relax at camp and enjoy the abundant bird life and take a moment to appreciate the smaller animals of this amazing Park. In the afternoon, we will enjoy another game drive in our own vehicle and continue our quest to spot the Big 5.

Day 6 Stellenbosch (B,D)

Once again, this morning we will choose from an optional game drive or guided nature walk in the park. Upon leaving Kruger National Park, we will transfer to the Nelspruit Airport for the flight to Cape Town where upon arrival we will head to our hotel in Stellenbosch, one of South Africa's premiere wine regions. In the evening, we will become wine connoisseurs and enjoy the classic wine tasting experience with a seasoned expert, complimented by a superb dinner with the best that the Cape has to offer.

Day 7 Cape Town (B)

This morning we will depart early for a trip around the stunning Cape Peninsula stopping at Boulders Beach to walk along the boardwalk and see the popular penguins. We will also spend a few hours volunteering at the Red Hill community and Pre-School, a Planeterra supported project.

Day 9 Cape Town (B)

Depart at any time.

After choosing your desired tour, you will need to select a departure date that works for you. You can view all of our dates and prices on any tour page. You may also want to consider the need for a private room during the tour. Please remember to ask for an air quote. It is important however that you do not purchase tickets that carry cancellations penalties until your trip is guaranteed to run.

Availability Options

  • Available – Trips marked as available means there are at least 4 spots left on your tour.
  • On Request– Less than 4 spaces are left, or we need to contact a local supplier, especially in the case of independent tours.
  • Waitlist – There is currently no space available, but you can ask to be contacted if anything opens up.

Guaranteed - We guarantee our tours 60 days before departure. Some popular tours are guaranteed before this date. If your tour indicates it is guaranteed, you can proceed to book your international airfare once you receive your booking confirmation.

Inca Trail Status - For Peru trips that involve hiking the Inca Trail permits often sell out many months in advance. Permits can either be available, on request or sold out. If sold out, then you can either take a different hiking route to Machu Picchu or extend your stay in Cuzco and visit Machu Picchu by train. We recommend the sooner you book your trip the better.
