Day 1 Casablanca
Welcome to Morocco! We will meet our group before heading out for an optional group dinner to get to know our traveling companions and enjoy one of Casablanca's many restaurants.
Day 2 Casablanca, Rabat, Meknes (B)
Today we will explore the wide boulevards and Art Deco architecture of Casablanca on a guided city walk. We will visit the world's third largest mosque before continuing to explore Morocco's capital city, Rabat. We will discover the history behind the Hassan Tower and enjoy the hilltop views of Kasbah des Oudaias before heading to Meknes, our base for the evening.
Day 3 Meknes, Volubilis, Fez (B)
Meknes' grand buildings and huge medina reflect the importance it once held as capital of the sultanate. We will enjoy a fully guided walk through its many monuments including the mausoleum of the city's legendary founder, Moulay Ismail. Volubilis is the best example of an ancient Roman city in Morocco. Let our local guide bring the fascinating history and riveting stories of this ancient place to life.
Day 4 Fez (B,D)
Fes is the Morocco most people dream about. Today we visit the city's must-see sites, such as the much-photographed tanneries and thriving marketplace. We will explore the small alleyways viewing artists as they hone their ancient crafts. In the evening, learn more about life in Fes, while enjoying a dinner of Moroccan specialties and a traditional folklore show.
Day 5 Fez, Marrakech (B)
Travel over the Middle Atlas Mountains with its cedar forests and ski resorts, down to the verdant and fertile plains of Beni Mellal and on to Marrakech.
Day 6 Marrakech, Tamatert (B,L)
We will enjoy a full day excursion to the High Atlas Mountains. We will embark on easy walks through the beautiful countryside amidst traditional Berber villages, taking in breathtaking views over the magnificent mountain landscape. A rustic lunch of home grown produce will be waiting for us in a local mountain gite.
Day 7 Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Aït Benhaddou (B,D)
Crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass, we will descend into the stunning pre-desert landscape surrounding Ouarzazate, where we visit the Kasbah Taourirt. We will wander around the red-mud alleyways of the famous Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou, and then enjoy a cooking demonstration of local specialties, dining on the results.
Day 8 Aït Benhaddou, Telouet, Marrakech (B)
Returning across the Atlas Mountains, we will visit the Glaoui Kasbah at Telouet, the former stronghold of the famous Glaoui family who ruled over the whole of Southern Morocco. Afterwards, we will visit the bustling souks of Marrakech and the famous Djemaa el Fna Square with its acrobats, fortunetellers, snake charmers and much more.
Day 9 Marrakech (B,D)
We will wander the rambling rooms and shady courtyards of the Bahia Palace, admire the tombs of the princes at the Saadian Tombs and discover the history behind the majestic Koutoubia Minaret on a walking tour of Marrakech. We’ll get to shop in the souk or find out more about the important work being done at the Terre des Jeunes Marrakech project, before a farewell dinner in the famous Djemaa el Fna Square.
